Bolam Lake

Today is my Dad's 98th birthday so we invited him for lunch and tea, and during the afternoon we took him out to Bolam Lake Country Park, just north of the village of Belsay. The weather was glorious as you can see. He can't walk far enough (or fast enough!) these days for him to walk right round the lake so we took his wheelchair: we thought we remembered that the track was OK for wheelchairs and happily found that we were right. It was just as well, as if we'd had to turn back we'd have had to disobey the Covid-related one-way system!

We all had a lovely day, especially as our Son #3 (who lives in Newcastle) came for lunch to see his Grandpa - and in the evening Sons #1&2 "joined" us for an hour on Skype.

We decided that one birthday cake candle was enough - 98 candles might have caused us to call the fire brigade. The card we gave my Dad said that he's "not old, he's just been young for a very long time"!
