Faith and Ambiguity

This year we have a mass of these large purple irises in the garden. I tried to photograph them outside, but found it impossible in the bright light to get a decent photograph. To get this image I picked one of the iris flowers and placed it on the light pad. The title was chossen because in the west, purple is commonly associated with piety and religious faith. It is also the colour most associated with ambiguity, becauise it combines two primary colours and as a result is seen as uncertain and equivocal.
