Flying Home

This morning Plymouth's waterfront was warm and sunny with a fresh breeze. Today's blip shows one of the interesting markers along the 10 mile stretch of the South West Peninsula Coast path, as it winds it's way around Plymouth's waterfront. The marker shows one of the flying boats that were stationed here at RAF Mountbatten, during the Second World War. The picture depicts how it might have looked as it flew into Plymouth Sound, to land on the water to the right of the breakwater. Near here are the hangers where the seaplanes were serviced and maintained. Aircraftsman Shaw, better known as TE Lawrence or Lawrence of Arabia was stationed here for several years.
