Bluff

Our ferry crossing was scheduled for 8am, we were packed and all ready to be picked up by taxi to be taken to the ferry terminal.  We had decided we would do breakfast when we reached the mainland.
It was hosing down with strong winds.  Not at all surprised to be told that the ferry crossing had been postponed because of the conditions out in the strait.  We went back to the house, had cup of tea and a gingernut (ginger being good for seasickness).
The crossing was rescheduled to coincide with the receding tide and really whilst it was rough we all managed it no trouble. The last time we ferried to Stewart Island the crossing was outrageously rough, this one in comparison was a piece of cake.
Five of our group set off for home and into the flooded areas.  Receding somewhat but many roads still closed, some bridges and approaches washed away, flooded farmlands, animal losses, really total devastation. They have got home safely and tell us the rain has stopped and rivers receding.
Ok, back to the remaining four.  Here we are at Oyster Cove, Bluff enjoying lunch. This place is primo, very smart, wonderful food, amazing views (perhaps not so today though). We enjoyed our lunch and surroundings very much.

We then parted company, us heading to the seaside town of Riverton where we have a lovely studio unit right on the beach.... the weather has improved and I’m hopeful that I may get a sunrise tomorrow morning.

We’ve skipped dinner, just so tired after four full on, fun days on the island.

Thanks so much for the love on the Mollymawks and Buller Albatrosses yesterday, so appreciated your responses.

In extra I’ve put a collage of two colourful buildings in Bluff, reminds me of Ireland.

The camera hasn’t come out of the bag today, these are all iPhone photos.
