The joys of parenthood

Most of us know - or at least remember- that feeling when you just want to relax and chill, but SOMEBODY wants you to get up and play/get a meal ready/entertain them etc. And so it is as we watch this Carneddau mare and her foal. The little one starts with a gentle knee prod, then it’s the hoof, then the headlock sneakily posing as a hug, and finally it’s the impossible to ignore headbutt. Not surprisingly, it’s at this point that mum gives up and struggles - rather gracelessly - to her feet. 

I’m always reluctant to post a collage for my main, but I just love the foal’s persistence. 

Today has had a gentler pace. The ‘youngsters’ decide to go for an early morning swim (see extras)- I do get a text asking if I’d like to join them, but the answer’s no. Then it’s a short walk in the low Carneddau which gives us the chance to see some of the gorgeous ponies. 

I have considered recreating the Trainspotting film poster for the current challenge, but in the end we all decide it’s just too much of an effort and decide to drink wine instead ..... and enjoy the joys of parenthood before our guests depart tomorrow.
