Composition

Chosen as a blip, amongst many competitors today, mainly because the composition pleased me. Our first port of call (on another day when we got started early) was Croggan, which we visited briefly back in 2007. The drive down there was reasonably quiet and mainly the other traffic was local people going about their business. We parked up next to a motor home, which had apparently been there a while. Great view of Loch Spelve. I texted Munroist with information about possible van sites! We ambled along the shoreline to Port Nan Crullach, a deserted (grey) sandy beach, where I paddled in lovely refreshing water. After that we visited Lochbuie, which the man from the motor home declared had been ruined by the arrival of a proper cafe. We beg to differ. An excellent cup of coffee and a cake/brownie respectively also begged to differ. We defined it as a progress, not unacceptable modernisation.

Our drive home was punctuated by regular stops…on Loch Spelve, Loch Scridain, Loch Na Keal (where we stopped off by this fank), to visit Tràigh na Cille, near Kilninian, and finally at the top of the hill looking back towards Ben More. We also stopped as we came over the top towards Balmeanach, and looking down what did I see but a fank. Mentioned here, I think. Photographed and in the extras!

More beautiful weather, up to 24 degrees according to the thermometer in the car. I’ve been in shorts all day, which is quite something for Scotland. We’re quite pink, even though we spent limited time outdoors. A little hazy, and now it has clouded over. A modicum of rain is forecast overnight. It might freshen things up nicely. Hopefully tomorrow will also be good, as we have more plans. But. It. Is. Our. Last. Full. Day. Here.
