Haskell Opera House

Derby Line. This opera house/ library was built in 1901 and is 1/2 in Quebec and 1/2 in Vermont. The border used to be more fluid than today. The stage has a big black line across it to mark the border. We once went to a show here, we sat in the US and the performers were in Canada. This film crew from Quebec, is doing a documentary about families who left Quebec and settled in Vermont. To avoid the border closure they met here on the street, the crew on one side of the border tape and the woman being interviewed on the other. Extra is a closer view of the interview.
