Back and Forth thru time

Speeding Back to My Baby

Evening all.

I'd had the warning on the way up the motorway driving to the frozen east.
An earlier heavy snow flurry and heavy fog had caused carnage on the opposite side of the carriageway and the evidence was strewn all over the road.

A post office lorry with the front of its cab torn off, two miles further up on an eerily quiet road a pair of lorries lay on their sides, one on the road, one in the ditch, and then, less than half a mile past that, the full set of emergency vehicles including the air ambulance and the black polythene screens told its own story.

Having taken all this in, you would have thought i'd have made every effort to avoid the massive lines of stationary metal crates that were stacking up as far as the eye could see.

In fairness, i did try really hard to avoid the queues on the way back, but some were unavoidable, this was the shortest queue i could find, and we still sat motionless for between three and four hours before we got a full revolution of the wheels going.

still, i know it could've been worse, a lot worse, i got home, eventually, late for things, missed a few appointments, had to do a bit of childcare juggling etc etc, but at least i did get home.
