Mack'd out!

Spent the whole day in Glasgow today with Gabrielle, doing Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Well we started with a bit of shopping for boots, and came away with two dresses!!

First stop one of my favourite places, the House for an Art Lover. A Mackintosh design competition entry that was actually built in Glasgow just a few years ago. Although totally replica, it is a stunning and faithful recreation. This is the music room. I treated myself to the book of the building of the house.

next up, we went for afternoon tea at the Willow Tea Rooms, then walked around the corner to see the Glasgow School of Art, followed by a drive to see Queen's Cross Church, all designed by Mackintosh.

after that we rested our feet at daughter Sally's flat for an hour, then went for some italian tapas at a new place in town, then took a drive round Glasgow to let G see all the famous buildings etc lit up. She took an amazing photo of the Armadillo (conference centre) lit up bright green, while I skulked in the car in the STV car park! a quick wander by the river, photos of the squinty bridge and lovely reflections, then home just an hour ago. Even the 21 year old is knackered!!

not much time to catch up, sorry, but plan to do so at the weekend definitely.

Edinburgh tomorrow, then G gets the train back to London from there at 4.30pm. I dash home for a meeting. she heads off to Paris on Thursday!!!!
