Kings Cross-upon-Sea

We are in London for the day as MrHCB has his first face-to-face meeting for 15 months.  I popped up to King's Cross to look at the Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition (thanks Paul for the tip-off).  A lot of the winning photos are rather "over-egged" for my taste.  But there are two other open-air exhibitions on in the area, including a fascinating one about the Silk Road.  The Silk Road exhibition and one of the images are in the Extra.  The image reminds me of Steve McCurry's Afghan Girl - do they all have such wonderful eyes?

The area in front of the University of the Arts has pop-up fountains in the pavements and, although they were misbehaving and the engineers were out in force, it was like being on the beach with children and dogs running in and out of the water and families having picnics on blankets.  It's scorching in the sun.
