Quiraing

We saved the big day for last, a walk up the The Quiraing. Having driven past it a couple of times this week and a walk we hadn't done before, we didn't want to exhaust ourselves too early in the week. The weather forecast was improving further into the day, so we first went to the Kilt Rock then the dinosaur museum before starting the walk mid afternoon. Initially it was a bit of a cold wind but 15 mins in the sun came out and Mrs C switched to her Joey wearing all of Chandler's clothes attire (Friends). The lower cliff walk was stunning revealing views not seen from the road, walking between land sliding down the hill was like walking through a glen. It was fairly moderate going until the steep path up to the loop turning point. As we sat up there having a snack, with views over to Lewis and Harris, and the mainland, we pondered whether to change the plan of returning on the same path, to continuing up to the top of the cliffs and walking down the hill, which we did. Although it was an effort both going up and coming down the steep sections, the sun was out and the views were further. It took 4 hours to walk almost 5 miles, with plenty of stops, and Arlo collapsed in his box in the car when we got back.

It was then off to Uig again for dinner, followed by a jaunt up to Duntulm where there were more dinosaur footprints, we had to wait until the tide was out, and there were many there, some in a line showing the path they took. By the time we got going again it was after 11pm so headed back to base to grab some sleep before heading home in the morning.
