Waddesdon

We spent a lovely afternoon at the National Trust's Waddesdon, that is about half an hour's drive from where we live.  If you haven't been it's a sort fo fairytale French chateau (built by the Rothschilds).  There has been an aviary there since the 19th century where the rare birds live in great luxury and breed more successfully than the small populations left in the wild.  I loved the troop of elephants currently visiting the grounds.  I think there are quite a few in London as well.  The CoExistence campaign draws attention to how we are encroaching on wild spaces.

I could have blipped an image of our Sparkling Rose afternoon tea in the Manor Restaurant complete with dainty sandwiches and a selection of sweet delights, but I didn't want to make you jealous ;-)
