Learning From Leviticus

On a bright summer morning in Central Texas, you don't often expect to hear a captivating sermon from Leviticus at FBC.  so after our time of praise and worship and a thoughtful , but, stirring anthem from the choir, I was a bit surprised when the Reverend John Folmar directed us to the first chapter of Leviticus.  Reverend Folmar, who is the pastor of the United Christian Church of Dubai was filling the pulpit at FBC in the absence of our interim pastor and I could not imagine where he was headed, but that only shows what a poor imagination I have.  Rev. Folmar spoke to us about the need for animal sacrifice in the beginning because of God's desire to have a relationship with man.  The problem was that a perfect and holy God could not have a relationship with a sinful creation like man without some way to remove the sin from the equation.  God gave the Israelites a prescribed way to do that through the blood of animal sacrifices, until Jesus came and offered Himself as a perfect payment for all sin for all time.  We just have to be willing to trust Him and believe that He can and will do everything He says He will do for those who love Him and have a relationship with Him.  I learned a lot from Leviticus this morning and if you were there, I hope that you did, too.  If you weren't there, it is on the Live-stream and well worth your time to listen to!
