The bend in the canal in June

Much of the Caledonian Canal is straight, but I live close to a bend. When I see that bend, I know I am nearly home. Even if it's pitch dark.  A fisherman told me there are otters around, but I haven't seen them.

There are gulls and oystercatchers nesting on our flat roofs. Yesterday we had an oystercatcher chick running around, but today it is a very young gull who likes our doorway. (See extra photo) I can't imagine that the chances of survival on the ground are very high. It's nature. You can't interfere.
