Buckets & Spoons

The title has nothing to do with the Blip which is poppies in a field near here.

The title has much more to do with my love of odd expressions.  In Englisch "to kick the bucket" means "to die".  According to my Brewer's, the origin of this phrase is not very clear (they give 3 and none of them make me think - yes that makes sense).  So if you are in the UK, do try your best to leave the buckets alone.

Of course in German, we have nothing to do with buckets.  Here you would be best advised to keep a hold of your spoon.  "Den Löffel abgeben" is the German equivalent of kicking the bucket.  Der Löffel = the spoon but here we're using the accusative so it's "den" instead of "der".

It was Monday.  It poured with rain for the whole morning which is very welcome.  Didn't make getting up for work easier.
