Lochore Meadows Country Park

Today is another sunny day. Pat has ordered more "goodies" from the Buffalo Farm and we take a circular tour by way of Lochore Meadows Country Park.

This time we "alight" from the car and do some exploring over paths and through trees.

The Park occupies part of the former Mary Coal Pit. One of the reminders of the previous use is the Winding gear which raised and lower miners to the various coal faces.

Unusually it is constructed of reinforced concrete and forms a dramatic structure in the landscape.

The extra shows an NCB "Pug" steam locomotive which worked on the surface. It is fenced off to stop children climbing over it.

On our return to the car children were quite happily climbing over it and playing "engine driver". I hope that the fencing is soon removed and a more child friendly ground treatment is provided.

Lochore Meadows Country Park is a fantastic facility offering many activities: walking, cycling, sailing, canoeing, swimming and golf.
