Alice Springs

Well we made it to Alice Springs today and landed in the middle of an event which attracts so much attention the population of the town will double over the weekend.  That was totally unexpected but on the positive side we will get to take lots of images of petrol heads :).  We are camped at the Showgrounds for the next three nights and will venture out from here to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the West MacDonnell Ranges.  I am so looking forward to exploring the country where Albert Namatjira used to paint his masterpieces.
It’s going to be fun camping here because we are surrounded by outback car enthusiasts.  A couple camped nearby told us that the Fink Desert Race is the Australian equivalent of the Dakar Rally.
