The Connoisseur / Der Geniesser

I love that there is a lot of public sculpture here, and that it seems to be an integral part of any new development.

This is outside a modern retirement home by my son’s Kindergarten, and is by the same sculptor as the much-lived Pigeon Man nearby.

But I have to admit this one doesn’t sit so easily with me. A sculpture of two people must make you ask about their connection. Here, I can only assume the ‘connoisseur’ in question is the bloke staring at the naked women, who is looking away - which doesn’t suggest a particularly harmonious relationship to me. Or I am I reading far to much into some playful, light-hearted posturing?
