Office on the hill

This is Burrough Hill in Daventry.

The building is right at the top of the hill and is surrounded by a country park.

The park previously had numerous 720 foot masts and two gigantic towers that were BBCs Short Wave Transmitting station - The one that the world heard "Daventry Calling"!

The building you can see is the second transmitter station that was built. The first is behind the trees and called the Empire Building dating from the early 1930's. This is now a refurbished office building and the the the visible one provides logistics for the organisation and a small office where I am based.

The image is a three shot pano with mono treatment to reduce the sensitivity to blue and cyan channels and then the image was sharpened in PS6 using a highpass filter layer.

I have a couple of other shots taken today on a walk around (it was still bitterly cold) that can be seen here!

Am looking forwards to some better weather so I can explore a little more and show some of the bits left from the sites long history.
