Another workshop

Have been in a workshop all day today and will be back again tomorrow.
This is as a consequence of the project issues mentioned last week.

A group of consultants/specialists have been invited in to assess where we are and look at some of the assumptions, decisions and strategy that has been employed so far. Within ten minutes their CTO was handing out the same project issues and base line requirements that we've been expressing for some time. The upshot is that a simple brief is not the same as expressing business goals and targets. Some key things that we should have been told have also come out today too putting a completely different complexion on what it is we need to achieve and when.

The level and scope required for modelling needs to be ascertained as, as we have been saying, the effort required increases exponentially for an incremental increase in output complexity and reliability. We now have some justification and recognition that our concerns are recognised and that we need significant business direction to make progress and deliver a successful project.
