Llantwit Major (Llanilltud Fawr) Beach

We drove from Ross into South Wales this morning to see my number one son, Pete, who has recently bought a house in the village of Llandow in the Vale of Glamorgan.   During lockdown he has been living with his mother in Llantwit Major and we arranged to see him at the station there.  We drove via the pretty (long) way over to Abergavenny and along the Heads of the Valleys Road, a much improved road, though there is still quite a bit of work still going on.  The traffic was light and we reached Llantwit by midday.  Pete had booked an outside table at one of the handful of pubs in the town, The White Hart, where we had a very good lunch and a very acceptable pint of local IPA.  After a bit of a walk around we all drove to Llantwit Major beach where we had a coffee at the beach cafe and Ann went for a brisk walk up to the viewpoint at the top of the cliffs.  Pete and I stayed at the cafe chatting.

On Ann's return Pete drove us over to his newly acquired house in Llandow.   We had a good look round, fully approved, and admired the work he's already put into it, though there's still more to do....isn't there always?

By now it was 5pm and kick-off time for the Wales v Turkey Euro2020 match which we watched along with most of the Welsh population probably....a good result with a final minute goal giving Wales a 2-0 win.

It was then time to come back to Ross.  We used the A48/M4 route, though it still took quite a while, we were back by 9pm.

The extra is Ann and Pete.  I think Pete is pointing out the viewing point at the top of the hill, or he may be saying "England is back in that direction"!
