Young Redstart

This young black redstart sat on our neighbour's garden house roof, and asked to be fed. I didn't see his parents at all, perhaps they decided he is old enough to look after himself.

I saw him when I went out to water the plants in the garden, and quickly fetched my camera to blip him.

It is another hot and humid day, and we are all tired of this weather. But it looks as if all the thunderstorms and showers are managing to bypass Wiesbaden once again.
It's amazing, the weather radar shows this huge mass of cloud and rain coming in from France and crossing north-eastwards into Germany. But just southwest of us, it divides into two clusters, drifting past us south and north, while we sit in the dry gap in between.

This actually happens on a regular basis. Our region, the Rheingau, is well known not only for its wine, but also for being one of the driest areas in Germany. I would love to interview a meteorologist some day, to find out why that is.
