Waterville day 3: A Man Cave

Today we did a turas - a pilgrimage. We started at St Crohane's Well and then ascended Coad mountain towards the aptly named Windy Gap, enroute two more wells which were traditionally all visited on the 30th July. A 12km hike, it took us 3 and a half hours plus lunch break. This is the site of the second well, known as St Crohane's Hermitage where, being a saint, he spent many happy hours. Actually it's a Neolithic copper mine - see extra for the amazing blue streaks still visible. The views were mighty, the flora and fauna impressive
Later we went to Staigue Fort, an incredible Iron Age structure, admittedly reconstructed but originally made from drystone walling. Who they were keeping out is unclear.
