Summer Solstice

Through rainy panes the flowers shine,
their colours no less bright
despite the greyness of the sky
as showers drown the light.

The summer solstice comes and goes
but leaves no special mark,
while stay-at-homes in cardigans
leave sodden beaches stark.

Despite the greyness of the sky
as showers drown the light,
through rainy panes the flowers shine,
their colours no less bright.

Had a bit of a duvet day today - but without the duvet bit. A lazy start with a read in the bath, followed by late 11-ses, ironing and knitting to a film I recorded off the TV probably over a year ago: the 2017 Disney version of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson. Really enjoyed it, more so than I expected. Still hope the summer returns soon!

The blurriness is owing to the rain pouring down the window pane, but I have added a digital rain effect, too, to simulate what my eye could see better than the camera lens could, for artistic purposes.
