Joan Eardley - A Painter’s Life

Heading for Kirkcudbright we stopped at the Gracefield Arts Centre to see the small exhibition of paintings by Joan Eardley and photographs by Audrey Walker. The exhibition is a successful curation of the work in Eardley’s short life. From the 1950s paintings of Glasgow children to the sea scapes at Catterline - I love her work. Eardley’s friend Audrey Walker was a photographer and she followed and documented her work producing fabulous black and white photographs.

A little incident with a puncture on the A74 saw us getting a lift from a recovery vehicle to the Kwik Fit in Dumfries to get us fixed up with a new tyre.

We had a little walk around Dumfries dropping into St Michael’s Church where Robert Burns is buried in an impressive mausoleum.

We arrived in Kirkcudbright without further incident and enjoyed a nice dinner with a large glass of red!
