Over the bridge

Today we collected a Napier friend from Auckland airport and drove her over the harbour bridge to her destination on the North Shore.  We had a pleasant couple of hours with her, including a light lunch sitting at a table in the sun outside the café, and then set off on the journey home.  As we approached the harbour bridge I put the window down and took this photo of central Auckland under a blue sky.  Once over the bridge and driving along The Strand in Parnell towards Tamaki Drive, the afternoon deteriorated, as our left rear tyre deflated and we had to quickly pull off the road.  We have a hybrid car and no spare tyre, so had to wait for the AA to send a tow truck to take us 350m back along The Strand to the tyre company where the car was fitted with two new rear tyres.  We needed two because of a technical issue whereby a new tyre on the left rear would be very slightly different from the tyre on the right rear and, therefore, cause uneven wear and also wouldn’t pass the WOF test. C’est la vie!
