Showers … and heavy rain

We had a lazyish morning, as it’s the first Matariki Public Holiday today. We pottered around doing one or two household things then drove into Parnell to meet a friend from Napier for a light lunch at 11:30am. It was lovely to catch up with her.  After lunch we set off to deliver some leaflets and put up this weekend’s open home signs. I multi-tasked by making a couple of overdue phone calls to friends. We’d only been going for an hour when the rain started and we decided to call it a day in Parnell.  We also had a few leaflets to deliver in Meadowbank. By the time we arrived there the rain had stopped and we managed to get the leaflets delivered and the open home signs up before the rain started again.

This evening we went to friends for dinner.  We took soup and sourdough bread, the second couple brought cheese and crackers and the hosts provided nibbles. Both couples will soon be travelling to Australia for extended stays, so it was our only chance to see one another before they leave. We had such a fun evening talking and playing Mexican Train Dominoes - finishing a game we started about six months ago.

As I walked down a street in Parnell I happened to spot the rather elaborate urn/birdbath through a gate and my blip for the day was decided, although I was obviously not seeing straight when I took the photo of the gate!

There are no Covid numbers today.
