Rocky Mountain Moments

Colorado Blue Columbine

Today we took a long drive through an area that was ravaged by a huge wildfire last year.  It was so sad to see how much of the beautiful forest was burned.  We drove to a place about 50 miles away where we used to camp in the National Forest.  It was north of the fire so wasn't burned but there were still a lot of dead trees from the Pine Beetle infestation.  Despite that, the area is still beautiful and very remote.  We drove about 15 miles back into the forest before the road got too narrow and bumpy for our truck.  Finding our beautiful state flower growing wild in the forest was a highlight of the drive.

I am grateful that we didn't buy firewood because PD filled the truck with free wood that we found along the roads we drove on today. :-)

I just backblipped for yesterday.  Take a look if you want to see Piper playing in the lake. :-)
