Quod oculus meus videt

Eye in the Sky

I've been commissioned to undertake some aerial filming along a local road where large vehicles are spilling waste onto the verge.  I agreed to trial the drone flying alongside the traffic but it soon became apparent that even in sports mode the drone was unable to fly as fast as the vehicles.  We therefore switched to carrying out some static monitoring.

Even then it did not prove ideal.  The funny thing was that I'd driven along the road earlier to find a suitable parking spot and actually followed a similar wagon when paper and plastic started to come off the back of the lorry.  In the end we agreed that monitoring along the roadway was probably as efficient as any other way of doing this, using a dash cam to monitor the vehicles.

It was all above board and the businesses where the waste freighters were visiting had been made aware of the concerns.and the intention to monitor.  It was an interesting exercise, if fruitless and was an interesting diversion compared with a long day following up on Covid outbreaks and compliance visits to various hospitality venues in the district.

It meant I wasn't able to visit our nephew, who turned 21 a week ago.  We were only just able to give him his present and L said he was over the moon to receive his first dSLR, which we'd got him.  Now if only I can encourage him to join Blipfoto!
