Damselfly

The lower pond in Streatham Rookery had so many blue damselflies around it – it was lovely to see. In the pond itself, the salamanders were easy to spot. The volunteers have taken the nets off the pond, which gives the plants space to grow, and I hope people don't pond dip and leave the beasts undisturbed. It's such a joy to see them. Fred saw one grab a fly off the pond surface. Nom.

The Rookery coffee machine was broken so I tried a smoothie instead – it was delicious! I might have this instead of coffee from now on. I'm sure it's much healthier.

Back home and Juno and Perch had a small scrap when Juno pounced on poor Perch. However, as you can see from the extra photo, they were quite content to be in each other's company not so long afterwards.

I spent a bit of time tidying up the clover and borage in the garden. As mum says, make the edges of the garden neat and it looks like you've done a great deal!

No damselflies today but the sun flies were a-buzzing all around me.

Our evening walk took us by the burst water main. It's still being fixed – it's going to take a couple of days. We're still lucky and we haven't run out of water. Our walk was cut short when we realised how dark the sky was becoming – we reached home just in time!
