Kniphofia

Saturday so guess where the shot was taken!   That's right the Lodge.  Changing the habits of a life time I took a shot of part (shock horror) of the emerging flower buds.

I have always known these as Kniphofia but they are equally well known as "Red Hot Pokers".   Kniphofia area genus of a number of species and hybrids between them.  Like many plants they derive their name from an individual generally the person who found them.   Kniphofia are named after Johann Hieronymus Kniphof a German physician and botanist.
