Colonsay.1

One of the charms of Colonsay is its scale. While K was having breakfast, I nipped up the summit nearest to our lodge. It's 135m high, gives an all-round view of most of the island, and I found some fun slopes to run down on the way back. Then I went out "properly" and, within an hour had crossed the island, via the old road and the Estate woodlands, to the familiar sweep of Kiloran Bay. Django had a great time chasing his ball on the almost deserted kilometre of golden sands, and then we were soon up the island's (143m) high point, looking back down onto the bay (see extra). Back at the beach, I ate lunch on the "whalebone seat" (that was incredibly comfortable) - a whale beached itself there about 4 years ago - and was joined by K, who had been rediscovering the island her own way. We walked back together, following a flock of sheep along the island's few tarmacked roads, and it was only mid-afternoon. Then... relax!
