Bollards

I went down to the old harbour to take pictures of 'listed buildings'. These are buildings considerd to have special architectural or historical importance.
There's been some discussion about this locally with regards to which buildings are and are not 'listed' so I thought it would be useful to create a  database. Fishguard and Goodwick, our 'twin towns', have 164  of them so it may take me some time.

A Saturday afternoon in June was not a good day to pick since most of the houses around the harbour are holiday lets and it was changeover day with cars parked all along the quay and people unloading and milling around. Still, the weather was lovely and I sat by the river to eat an icecream. I also dropped off a lettuce for a friend and rescued some parched runner beans seedlings from her Plant Swap. I regretted not to having the right money for an honesty box to purchase some strawberries offered outside another house.

I had a good long chat with the old man (91 next month!) who sits outside his house in the sunshine. He has perfect recall for his childhood adventures in  the fields and lanes nearby: the hot  yeast buns slathered with fresh made butter that he would be given by the woman who lived up near me, the Italian POW he found slumped over his hedging tools in a diabetic coma and ran to raise the alarm, the pigs everyone kept - one to kill, one to sell. Now he's happy to watch the modern world go by, he's still independent, lives alone and remembers all the birthdays of his 6 brothers and sisters, and those of his late wife's too.
I think he merits 'listing'.

Oh and the bollards, they're listed too, as are the the slipway, steps, and the harbour wall, in extras.
See here to find your local listed buildings. You can submit photographs of them too.
