Cooling off

Flora cools off in the sea off the Isle of Arran.

Left home about 10:00 (having been awake from 02:00 - yes I am anxious about travel) and were on board the ferry for Arran at 12:30. It's a short crossing of under an hour. It was busy but we were out on deck in beautiful warm sunshine. By 1:45 we had checked into our room at Auchrannie. This is somewhere we've been lucky enough to visit before so we know the lie of the land. It's very comfortable and as far as I can judge covid safe. There are lots of open doors and windows for ventilation and at the moment that's needed for cool air too. It is a very pleasant low 20s/70s temperature and even on the beach it felt hot. Flora isn't usually a swimmer but today was her chance to show off her doggy paddle.

The sea round Arran has turned turquoise https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57609040
You can see this in my extra. It's an algal bloom but luckily not one of the nasty ones.

I've had a swim myself. Not in the sea but in the pool here. It too felt safe and it was just such a treat to get into the water.

We are booked for dinner here. When we checked into our room we found that a bottle of fizz had been left as a gift from my sister and BiL so we'll be toasting their good health, eating, having an evening stroll then an early night.
