Arable landscape

A day examining the verges of a dual carriageway and arable field boundaries - neither generally considered to be prime places to go and see wildlife, but with some interesting plant species including a large population of Wild Onion, with its strange heads of proliferating bulbils, along the edge of a bean field and several populations of Common Spotted and Pyramidal Orchids on the road banks.

For once Pete and I were alone in the house when we returned, so enjoyed a very summery meal of pan-fried trout with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables, sitting in the garden. Despite being in a sheltered corner, the wind was quite chilly, so we retreated indoors for our hot drinks, and relaxed for a while in front of the TV until the internet crashed!
