"Mum - What big feet you've got!"

It seems a bit late in the year for this coot to have such young chicks - unless it is a second brood.  The nest is constructed on these reeds/grasses growing at the top of a weir on the River Colne near Harefield.

The parent's large feet probably help it to clamber over the reeds.
