THE HEART OF A THOUSAND CRYSTALS

I had an outing to The Metrocentre this afternoon.  While I was waiting at the bus stop to go to the centre a retired teacher who used to teach Becky and Neil was passing by.  We had a nice catch up.  He's always enjoyed travelling the world but of course since Covid he's been nowhere,  He wasn't a happy bunny.

The Metrocentre was fairly quiet and there were even benches free when I needed a sit down.  Went into M & S where I was glad to see that the changing rooms were open. Tried a few things on and made a purchase.  Also bought some food items.  Then I had a wander and shopped in Poundland and The Works.

My blip shows the unique chandelier which hangs in the Platinum Mall.  Its called the Heart of a Thousand Crystals and was installed in 2014.  At the time it was unveiled 1,000 replica crystals were put on sale for £20 each to raise money for The Childrens Heart Unit at The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

This blip is my entry for the Wide Wednesday challenge - the theme is 'Central'  How does the blip relate to central you many wonder.  Well ( Im clutching at straws here )........ when the Metrocentre opened this mall was originally called the Central Mall and after some renovations in  2012 it was re-named the Platinum Mall.  Thanks to rsdphotography for hosting.

We had some rain through the night and it was a dull overcast morning but this afternoon the sun returned and it got quite warm
