Female ruddy darter

A morning's gardening followed by an afternoon walk to the canal and nature reserves.  I was pleased to see that they're building a hide at the new reserve.

The birds weren't showing apart from a reed warbler collecting fluff from a bullrush.  There were plenty of insects around including one that gave me a very itchy bite on my hand!

I saw the first red admiral butterfly and silver y moth of the year with lots of damselflies and dragonflies around too.

My blip is of a female ruddy darter dragonfly, the male is a dark red.
