A Special Day

Today is my birthday.  Last year we had stricter restrictions. This year those restrictions are a little more relaxed.  As a result I have had a really nice day.  This morning, after opening my cards and presents, we went to the nearby National Trust property,  Coughton Court to meet up with Maureen and Ian.   We had a good walk through the grounds ending up at the courtyard cafe where we had a drink and chat.  The walled garden didn't open until 12pm so that's where we went after coffee.  The picture of these exotic flowers was taken in the walled garden which is awash with different colourful flowers, bees and butterflies.

On returning home we found Emma had arrived and was waiting for us.  It was lovely to see her, and of course baby bump who seems keen to get into the big wide world, moving and kicking his mum.  I'm fully expecting to be a grandfather for the second time imminently.   We had a spot of lunch with Emma in the garden.  One of the presents she bought me was a very smart looking Bluetooth speaker.  It works brilliantly and produces a very clear sound...excellent for my Bob Dylan collection, amongst others.

After Emma left we had a couple of hours break when we settled down to a bit of Wimbledon before Tom and Rachel arrived after work.  We had invited them over for tea for which I cooked a risotto that we had with quiche and veggie sausages.   We had a nice evening in the garden, Blondie and Joni Mitchell on the music box!

All in all it's been a lovely day.

Thanks to BikerBear for hosting today's Flower Friday.
