On the edge of Dartmoor

We took my sister out for a walk on the edge of Dartmoor today. Although it was forecast as cloudy it was a warm and sometimes sunny day, in fact perfect for walking.  We climbed up onto Dartmoor where the vegetation is now looking very different with lush ferns, lots of Foxgloves  and cotton grass around us.  Todays blip shows Yes Tor and High Willhays the highest points on Dartmoor in the distance.  We didn't head that way but skirted around the edge of Meldon Quarry taking lunch at the side of the Red a Ven Brook before heading back down under the Meldon Viaduct and back into Okehampton along the river.  A lovely walk.

As today is our son's last day with his current employer we had decided to celebrate this by going out for a meal in a local Italian restaurant.  A good idea and our first meal inside a restaurant since the first lockdown. The meal was very good and we had a great time.
