Seafront Statue

After yesterday's blip I might perhaps have been sensitised to statutes commemorating civic achievement. I was in Rothesay this morning and spotted this one , beautifully situated on the esplanade with the hills of Cowal in the background.

Alexander Bannatyne Stewart was a businessman (in the company of Stewart & McDonald , one of the precursors of the House of Fraser) yachtsman, and orchid grower, who lived at Ascog Hall on Bute.
