Gin tasting

It’s not quite a mile long walk from the place we are staying to The Mermaid Bar and Isle of Wight Distillery where we were booked for a 1pm lunch, primarily with the aim of tasting the gin. Mermaid Gin is created on the Island using locally sourced materials; the samphire is foraged from the shoreline around the Island. There was quite a range of tastes and the Navy strength is certainly quite strong but they’re all delicious. Obviously, a gin-based cocktail followed before we settled into our lunch and moved to wine.
