Little Visitors

I got caught in the rain whilst getting a bit of shopping in town today, but at least it wasn't the thunderstorms forecast. I nipped into the garden between matches on the tv to get a few photos of the flies and bugs on the wildflowers. I also briefly saw a tiny little wren on the ground chasing a little butterfly / moth around and catching it - I assume it was a fledgling.

What a performance by the 18 year old British tennis player Emma Raducanu who won her match to get into the 4th round (final 16). To put this into context, she's a wildcard who is ranked 338 in the World, making her Grand Slam debut (after her WTA debut a few weeks ago), and playing the World ranked 54 player. Her prize money will be at least 6 times her total career earnings to date.

And what an achievement for Abba's greatest hits Gold to become the first recording to spend an incredible 1,000 weeks in the UK top 100 album chart. It is actually outsold by Queen's Greatest Hits. Obviously I have both!

Day 474 / Day 48 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The Chair of the BMA Council very sensibly says that easing restrictions was not an 'all or nothing' decision, and that 'sensible cautious' and  'targeted measures' to reduce virus transmission will be vital to control the impact of new variants, new waves, and lockdowns. Russia is in a third wave of COVID caused by the Delta variant spreading through a largely unvaccinated population where only 16% of Russians have had their first jab.
