Rare bird

This morning the weather cleared enough for a walk on Seven Mile Beach. This Beach Stone-curlew (also called Beach Thick-knee) was exploring the back of the beach, close to the dune, just where I photographed and blipped the same species 6 weeks ago.  As I mentioned then, this species is classed as critically endangered in NSW and I'm fortunate to have seen it twice recently.

The bird books say they are mainly active at night, as well as dawn and dusk. Today I saw it around mid-morning, on a heavily overcast day - see extra.
