The Gate of Prophecy

This Santa Cruz staple of weirdness has undergone a major facelift since I blipped it years ago, but the unsolved mysteries still abound. If you've got time, read the linked articles. A few years ago, a wealthy couple bought the property, variously known as St. Elias Church, the Court of Mysteries, and the Unorthodox Chapel; they preserved as much of the temple as possible, while adding an opulent new 3,000 sq foot residence on the almost half-acre property. The current asking price is $4.6 million. Dollars. Walking by and speculating on the history: priceless.
