Sgwarnog: In the Field

Atop

The last day of my long weekend presented a good opportunity for a longer walk on the moor, at least when the morning rain had passed.

I headed up Green Lane and onto the moor at Hope Gate before  mooching around Dobrudden, Low Plain and back via Eaves Crag and Moorside. It was overcast for much of the walk but warm enough for some butterflies anyway, lots of Small Heath, Large Skipper, Ringlet and Meadow Brown with a few Small Tortoiseshell and Red Admiral.

The skippers were easiest to find atop the thistles, like the one in today’s main image. The moor and Airedale lie behind.

And thank you from 13yo for all of the kind words about her painting.
