Day 2 Lübeck

We slept pretty well at Reinhardshain hotel, but they didn’t serve breakfast due to Corona. So hungry, we set off north on the motorway. After an hour, we pulled off at Alsfeld, and had a walk around the medieval old town, finding a nice cafe in the square that served breakfast. It was really quiet, very few people around.
We walked in to the cafe, only to be stopped and told we had to show a negative test, or a COVID certificate if we wanted to go in. This was a shock, as most of the restrictions were lifted in Switzerland a couple of weeks ago. Most of the kids have been doing home school for the last year.
After breakfast we carried on north, with another 450 km to go. There were many accidents, road works, road closures, but we arrived at our friends in Lübeck by 17.00. So lovely to meet up with Kerstin and Andreas again after 2.5 years, and catch up. They’ve done lots of renovations and the house and garden are looking fantastic. It was 25 degC, and very sunny, so great weather for a barbecue.
We watched the football, the German Friends were certainly supporting Denmark, not England! Well done England, but not sure if we’ll be able to watch the final on Sunday.
