Flowers and Visitors

I was busy watching the high quality ladies semi finals today at Wimbledon, but fortunately I remembered to pop into the garden between matches for a blip. It also coincided with the sun and all the insects coming out. With the small wild area, at this time of year I bet there's hundreds of bees in the garden on a nice day. This morning I had my boiler serviced. I barely got two words from the engineer - I suspect a bad hangover after the match last night. Well done England football team, they played well. Disgraceful fan behaviour in booing Denmark's National Anthem and shining a laser pointer at Denmark's goalkeeper before the penalty.

Day 479 / Day 53 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
Quarantine has been replaced by a mandatory (paid for) PCR test on Day 2 after their return from an amber list country, for fully vaccinated adults (2 jabs plus 14 days) and all those aged 4-18 from 19th July. The requirement for a mandatory test 3 days before their return remains. So the Govt advice not to travel to an amber list country is also being lifted on that date. PHE reports increasing Covid rates across all Regions and age groups in England, the highest levels are still in the NE. There were 356,036 alerts from the NHS COVID-19 app in the last week of June, a 62% jump from the previous week and the highest weekly figure since figures have been reported.  In a letter in the Lancet, more than 100 scientists have described the abandoning of restrictions on 19th July as a 'dangerous and unethical experiment', and that tolerating high infection levels is 'illogical' - I agree. Only 76.9% of in-person tests in England received their result within 24 hours in the last week of June - come on T&T!!! 88.1% of blood donors have antibodies. The health system in Tunisia has collapsed due to a surge of cases. The Tokyo Olympics is going ahead in two weeks time largely without spectators due to a spike in cases and a state of emergency being declared in Tokyo (previously it was just spectators from Japan).
