Ethereal Minstrel! Pilgrim of the Sky!

The title is the first line of To The Skylark by Wordsworth. It was a lovely morning, so I took my camera with long lens to Weybourne to look for butterflies in the long grass by the coast path. Surprisingly, there were not many to be seen, but I got a nice photo of a six-spot Burnet moth (see Extra). I got a couple of nice photos of a posing Skylark and found it difficult to choose between the one above of it singing, and the one in the Extra of it holding a grub. I think the low angle with blue sky won the day. I love watching the sand martins darting around, but no chance of catching a photo as they're far too quick. It's one set all in the Djokovic / Norrie match at the moment - fingers crossed that Norrie's standard returns to that of the first set.

Day 841 / Day 132 of no Legal Covid Requirements in England (for my record only)
The weekly ONS infection survey of private households up to 29th June showed rates up 18% from the previous week with 1 in 25 with the virus across the UK. There's an estimated 1 in 25 in England (up); 1 in 17 in Scotland (up); 1 in 20 in Wales (up) and 1 in 19 in NI (up). The UKHSA is reporting that the number of people in hospital with Covid is up across all age groups, but with the largest increase being in those over 75. On 6th July in England there were over 11,000 people in hospital who'd tested positive for Covid (2/3 are not in hospital because of Covid, but it makes their care more difficult). An official in the EU Medicines Agency has warned that because of Omicron mutations, a new wave is spreading across Europe and that 'the increase in transmission among older age groups is starting to translate into severe disease.' The Labour Leader and Deputy Leader were not fined over ‘beergate’ as it was reasonably necessary for work purposes. Was it?
