Country Park Butterflies

G and I had arranged a walk this morning in the nice sunny weather to photograph butterflies at Holt Country Park. As could be guessed, the forecast sun didn't appear and it was overcast and a bit cool at times. Butterflies weren't much in evidence, nor were dragonflies. There also didn't seem much around for them to feed on with any flowers seeming to have come and gone very quickly. As you can see, we did see a few White Admirals, Silver-Washed Fritillaries and a Speckled Wood, although they seemed a bit small and often in poor shape. The sun came out this afternoon - the garden is now extremely dry with little rain to speak of for a month.

I enjoyed watching the ladies singles final. Another nervy match with quite a few errors, but quite competitive. Rybakina deserved the win, and good to see that she didn't get rattled after losing the first set. I hope it's a good final tomorrow without controversy.
